About Us
Edinburgh EquiLearn CIC is a registered not-for-profit Community Interest Company dedicated to supporting the wellbeing and development of children, young people, and adults through equine-assisted learning and outdoor engagement.
We provide safe, structured programmes that use meaningful interaction with horses and the natural environment to build confidence, resilience, self-esteem, and transferable life skills.
We work particularly with children and young people who face barriers in mainstream education or who may benefit from alternative, therapeutic approaches to learning. Our sessions offer a supportive, nurturing environment that promotes emotional regulation, personal growth, and positive engagement with learning.

Alongside equine-assisted learning, Edinburgh EquiLearn is passionate about educating young people about nature, sustainability, and wildlife. We aim to inspire a deeper understanding of the natural world, teaching participants how to protect wildlife, respect the environment, and make responsible choices that contribute to a greener, more sustainable Scotland. Through outdoor learning and hands-on experiences, we encourage environmental awareness and stewardship that participants can carry into their everyday lives.

Established following a successful pilot project in 2022, Edinburgh EquiLearn works in partnership with schools, local authority services, and third-sector organisations to deliver inclusive, tailored programmes that support wellbeing, learning, and long-term positive outcomes. Our commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and community impact underpins everything we do, ensuring every participant is given the opportunity to thrive.

Services

1:1 Wellbeing Sessions
Our 1:1 wellbeing sessions provide personalised support in a calm outdoor setting. Through safe, ground-based interaction with horses, participants develop confidence, emotional awareness, and self-regulation at their own pace. Each session is tailored to individual needs, supporting wellbeing, resilience, and positive personal growth.

Group Programmes
Our group programmes combine equine-assisted learning with educational activities, helping children and young people develop confidence, teamwork, and emotional awareness in a supportive outdoor setting. Sessions integrate schoolwork and learning opportunities centred around horses, with pathways to gain recognised qualifications while building resilience and a connection to nature.

Community Collaborations
We work with local schools, social services, and community groups to bring equine-assisted learning to those who benefit most. We are eager to expand these partnerships, reaching more young people and creating greater opportunities for wellbeing, learning, and connection with nature.
